Using Alternative Cogeneration Plants in Iraqi Petroleum Industry

The present paper describes and analyses three proposed cogeneration plants include back pressure steam-turbine system, gas turbine diesel-engine the Dura refinery plant. Selected actual operating data are employed for analysis. same amount of electrical thermal product outputs is considered all systems to facilitate comparisons. theoretical analysis was done according 1st 2nd law thermodynamic. results demonstrate that exergy a useful tool in performance permits meaningful comparisons different based on their merits, also result showed more efficient than other proposals. Moreover, work indicate these alternative can produce electric power required refinery. At time, industrial recommended Iraq, especially petroleum industry sectors, order contribute with ministry electricity solve crisis generation. Such excess sold main network. economic proved feasibility payback period four year six months ,three eight months, ten years steam plant, plant diesel engine respectively.
